Prayer
& Worship
Eucharistic Liturgy is celebrated on Sunday at 10:30
AM. This Liturgy is the focal part of our spiritual life.
Bread
Baking: Bread Bakers bake the bread,
using the recipe approved by the Archdiocesan Worship Office. The
bread is delivered to the church 20-30 minutes before Mass on the day
scheduled. Families and
individuals are scheduled to bake bread 2 or 3 times a year.
Chapel
Art & Environment:
Participants in this
ministry assist with the purchase of flowers and supplies, set up and take
down decorations, and create an environment in the chapel that is appropriate
for the season. The Decorating Ministry
is responsible for chapel decorations, primarily during the season of Advent,
Christmas, Lent, Easter, Pentecost.
Eucharistic
Ministers:
as a Eucharistic Minister, a person
becomes a very real part of the celebration of the
Mass.
Many feel the significance of the
privilege of distributing the sacrament. A
training session is held for new Eucharistic Ministers, and then participants
in his ministry are scheduled for Masses throughout the year.
Greeters:
Members of this Ministry
greet Community members before each worship service, welcome newcomers to the
liturgy and coordinate name tag Sunday.
Proclaimers
of The Word:
Members
of the Proclaiming the Word ministry (lectors) present His Holy Word
at Mass each Sunday. The lectors study the readings of the day; write the
intercessions; and chose the gift bearers for the Mass. Attendance is
necessary at a training session in order to be a lector.
Music:
The musicians,
instrumentalists and vocalists provide music for the liturgical celebrations of
the community. Participation in the
choir does not require prior music training; all are welcome to join.
Sacristans:
Sacristans are divided
into two groups: Weekly Sacristans
and Head Sacristans. Weekly
Sacristans are responsible for preparing the bread, wine, etc., for Communion.
They also clean and put away all items after Mass.
Head Sacristans assist the
celebrant at the
Mass.
They prepare the Liturgical books
and set up for special masses, such as: weddings,
baptisms, funerals, Christmas, Easter, etc.
They also coordinate with the Weekly Sacristans.
Assistant
Sacristans:
Young people age 10 and older are wanted to assist at Mass. They would hold
the priest’s folder or book at the beginning and end of Mass and any other
needs that occur. Also, they help clear the alter, return the priest’s folder
to his chair, as well as moving the chair back into place.
Ushers:
The ushers assist in
seating the congregation, help in directing the Communion lines, and assist
elderly and disabled members of the community during Communion.
They work with planners and the celebrant to assure all movement goes
smoothly during any special celebrations, place songbooks properly in the Pews,
and clean up miscellaneous items left during the Mass.
Ushers are assigned to work
throughout the year on a rotating basis.
Special Prayer Services:
From
time to time, the retirement center and faith community have special prayer
services and memorials for holidays, penance services, Lent and Advent, day of
and day before holy days of obligation, and memorial services. An effort can be made to integrate these schedules to provide high
quality prayer and worship during these times to serve community residents and
members of the faith community.
