Confirmation
Preparation
How
do I know if I should enter into the Confirmation Program?
-
Do
you believe in God? In Jesus
Christ? In the Holy Spirit? Are you willing to open your heart to the possibility?
-
Are
you currently participating – or do you have a desire to participate –
in the life of the Catholic Christian community?
-
Do you have a desire to
know more about Catholic teaching and practice, and model your life
accordingly
Do
I have to be confirmed if I enter into the Confirmation Program?
°
No. The purpose
of the formation process is to help you discern God’s presence in your life
and know what God desires for you. It
will help you find answers to the questions above, and discover if following a
Catholic way of life is for you. You
are not making a commitment to receive the sacrament at this time, only to open
your heart to God
What
is required for participation in the Rite of Entrance?
-
You
must have a sponsor. Your
sponsor must be at least 16 years of age, be fully initiated into the
Catholic Church, be living a faithful life, and not be bound by any
canonical penalties. Your
sponsor may not be your parent.
-
Your
sponsor must be available to participate in the Orientation and scheduled
Rites. Your sponsor must also be
willing to be involved in your Christian formation and be available to
participate in the Confirmation liturgy.
-
You must be willing to participate
fully in all aspects of the Confirmation preparation program to the best of
your ability, to work cooperatively with your sponsor and the Confirmation
team throughout the process, and to give witness to living the Christian
life by participating in service to the community.
