Dear Sisters and Brothers,

Whoever heard of an indoor picnic? Between 4:00 and 4:30 last Sunday, salads, casseroles, barbecue, soft drinks, and desserts began appearing in the undercroft.  Tables and chairs were set up. Youngsters played, oldsters chatted, and all had a good time. It wasn’t the sunny park and fresh air that we had planned for, but it was dry (and air-conditioned)!  We came together, enjoyed each other, and were blessed.

Our newly formed community council meets for the first time this week. We welcome Bill Moroney and Pat Welsh to the council, and we thank Teresa Bickett and Mary Ellen Graham for their service. Please keep your chaplain moderator, pastoral administrator, and council members in your prayers as we try to lead this community under the guidance of the Holy Spirit.

Many thanks to all the members of our faith community who very generously responded to the Catholic Ministries Appeal. As I have come to expect, even in difficult economic times our community has exceeded its goal. Your willing spirit continues to inspire me and give me hope.

I’ve been enjoying the summer film series at the Victoria.  Have you been finding ways to relax and enjoy your summer?

                                                Peace and every blessing,

                                                    Loren, OFM
